Aaron Meyer

Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer is an accomplished, classically trained violinist, composer and educator. Having invented his own sound, Aaron’s music fits into the classical-crossover genre, and is a unique, high energy blend of world, pop/rock and classical sounds. Aaron performs surrounded by a full 6-piece band, in which he and his violin take center stage, and his violin is “the lead vocal”. Aaron is also able to perform in a variety of other formats. Meyer’s music is ideal for entertainment from weddings, receptions, corporate events, Summer festivals and outdoor concert series, to Performing Arts stages and beyond!

Aaron has performed for world leaders and dignitaries as well as held solo appearances with major orchestras and ballet companies throughout the world. He has composed music for, and/or shared the stage with artists as diverse as Everclear, Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, Pink Martini, Leftover Salmon, The Temptations, and 2002 Miss America - Katie Harman.

Meyer’s debut as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra took place at age 11. He began studying the violin when he was five years old with his father, Julian Meyer, then with other prestigious mentors through his teenage years. Upon graduating from College in 1995, Aaron layed the violin to rest and embarked on a year of edifying travel throughout the remote regions of Asia, which ultimately aided in enhancing his musical creativity.

In 2002 Aaron was selected to compose string parts and record for Everclear's Slowmotion Daydream album. Aaron has performed on numerous albums including Pink Martini's highly acclaimed debut Sympathique. Aaron performed songs from his project, Seasons of Peace, at two World Peace Conferences, held at the United Nations in New York and in The Hague, Holland. His arrangement of "O' Come All Ye Faithful" was featured on the Christmas In The Northwest 7 benefit CD and is frequently heard on NW radio throughout the holidays.

Aaron's first solo CD, “ Near the Edge” was released through six live solo performances after the Oregon Ballet Theatre commissioned Aaron to compose original music for their production “Dance Near The Edge” at the Keller Auditorium in Portland. In 2001, Aaron premiered a newly commissioned work for the Portland visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Memorial Coliseum. Also in 2001, Aaron released his second CD, “A Winter’s Dance” in conjunction with his annual holiday concert production in Portland (and has grown to a 3-show production), also now touring throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Aaron's largest and most expansive show premiered in 2002 which was an eight-show production held at Portland's Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom and featured Aaron's six-piece band as he released the CD, “Iniziare” (Italian for The Beginning). This recording clearly defines Aaron's fresh and invigorating musical brand. In 2003, “The Fourth Season”, was released consisting of exciting holiday arrangements.

In 2004, Meyer released a CD of wedding music. This is a favorite among brides to be who are planning their wedding nuptials. The CD contains classic and traditional numbers performed in Aaron’s unique signature style, including The Wedding March and Bridal Chorus.

Commissioned by Oregon Public Broadcasting and Lewis & Clark College in 2005, Aaron was asked to create the soundtrack for “Unfinished Journey: The Lewis and Clark Expedition", where Meyer created character excerpts for the OPB radio series, which has gained his music considerable national airplay on NPR. The 2007 CD release entitled “From the Beginning” is a compilation of classical music Aaron has performed throughout his career, and includes two recent original compositions! Aaron recorded this CD with only his violin, accompanied by his pianist on his 1927 Steinway piano.

The innovative original music that Aaron creates is cutting edge music that audiences of all ages genuinely connect with. Aaron performs his music with tremendous virtuosity and passion!

Aaron is a masterful performer as well as educator! His innovative Classroom Music Project, an extensive artist-in-residence program cross-disciplining academic curriculum, music composition, cutting-edge recording technology, production, and performance, allows Aaron to work with students of all ages. Each year, Aaron visits dozens of schools all over the Pacific Northwest and around the world, presenting assembly style programs, workshops and assisting in creating CD’s of student-written songs. He also works with youth orchestras and conducts his own annual, music education summer camp in Portland! Aaron produced and markets a CD entitled “Practice Classical Violin and Play Like a Rock Star”, which is an educational tool that works in conjunction with Suzuki Books 1 & 2 for Violin, and inspires young students to have some fun when they practice!

Aaron travels and performs annually in Southeast Asia, Mexico, and The South Pacific. His passion for travel allows him to enjoy learning about traditional and local music where ever he goes. Aaron delights in performing with musicians from other countries and incorporating some of their traditional world music into his own.

If you're looking for a class act with a modern edge, Aaron Meyer is the one to choose.
