Linda Lee Michelet Big Band

How many of us have a dream?

By that I mean wanting, yearning to do something other than what you are presently doing in your day to day life. We refer to it as a dream, because most of us feel it is unattainable. Sometimes, however, with perseverance and hard work and yes, a little luck, some of us get to realize our dreams.

Linda Lee Michelet’s dream since she was 10 years old was to sing Peggy Lee tunes with a big band. This was no easy achievement as the twists and turns of what ends up being our lives seems to lead off in every direction AWAY from our dreams...she had talent, desire and a work ethic to match, she never lost faith.

After toiling as a private investigator for 20 years, she has reached that seemingly unreachable goal, HER dream...the Linda Lee Michelet Big Band.

Putting a band like this together was no easy task. There were roadblocks and hurdles to get over at every turn...musical arrangements needed to be written, show production, lights and sound, musicians assembled and rehearsed...engagements had to be procured...yes, a grassroots eff ort by Linda to make her dream a reality...and she did it!

This is a band of the BEST musicians in Portland with great arrangements right off of the original artist’s recordings. Peggy Lee, Anita O’Day, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Julie London...just to name a few of the best lady singers of a great era in American music.

Let’s now bring in Linda, a talented performer and singer, a believer in this great music; a love aff air that has lasted most of her life...she would hear these great records being played over and over by her big brother. She knows all the lyrics of the songs and mannerisms of these great singers.

Linda is a marvelous entertainer that connects you, the audience, with this wonderful music. With her comfortable, even whimsical, delivery of these popular songs, you will be sent back to the time in your life when you fi rst heard them...a musical time capsule opened and heard after years of waiting...it’s always been there...Linda knew that...she has brought this music back to life.

A consummate entertainer, Linda Lee dazzles the room at her entrance, captivates with her voice, and engages the audience as she serenades each listener one by one. She has received rave reviews from The Oregonian, The Portland Tribune, NW Jazz Profile, Portland Monthly Magazine and a cover story in More magazine.

Her television appearances include segments on the nationally syndicated Better TV, and Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Art Beat.
