Off The Record
|
 |
 |
Formed in 1994, Off The Record has always been about fun, danceable, quality Rock and Pop music, specializing in radio hits of the 60's and 70's (with some 50's and 80's thrown in for good measure!), and that means songs immediately familiar to a wide audience. These songs are presented with authenticity and enthusiasm by a band composed of members from some of the Portland area's better known bands.
Lorri Calhoun
Vocals, Keyboard, Percussion
Born and raised in Southern California and coming from an acting and musical family, Lorri began singing at a very young age. She performed in nightclubs and casinos from California to New York before landing in Oregon, where she came to the attention of Portland audiences as the lead vocalist for the popular band Nimble Darts. After a few years she returned to California continuing to work in bands as well as on various acting and recording projects. Since returning to Portland, she has continued her singing career as a founding member of Off The Record, believing that performances should be high energy, musically accurate, and most of all fun!
Greg Georgeson
Guitar, Vocals
Greg is probably best known as the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter of the band Sequel. Over the years Sequel has opened shows for, among others, Journey, The Tubes, Sammy Hagar, Ice House and Greg Kihn, as well as releasing two full length records, both receiving regional radio airplay. Moving to Southern California, he spent the latter part of the eighties playing the mainstay L.A. clubs before returning to Portland in the early nineties. Along with Off The Record, Greg still plays the occasional show with Sequel, as well as working with Jon Koonce (Johnny and the Distractions), and Tommy Tutone (867-5309/Jenny).
Greg Oberst
Drums, Vocals
Greg first took up the drums in the fifth grade, eventually studying with Leo Browne and later, Mel Brown (Temptations, Supremes). His first professional jobs were on the Nevada casino circuit, later touring the U.S. and Canada in Skin and Bones, a band featuring an authentic Beatles tribute show. Relocating to San Francisco, Greg joined up with Peter Bilt, former guitarist for Warner Bros. artists Pearl Harbor and the Explosions. As the drummer of Peter Bilt and the Expressions, he opened shows for Oingo Boingo, The Go Gos, and other popular acts of the day. Returning to Portland, Greg would help form Mr. Nice Guy, a band that enjoyed regional success and released a full length record. He later toured Alaska and Hawaii in various bands before becoming a founding member of Off The Record.
Robert Russell
Bass, Vocals
The newest member of Off The Record, Robert began his musical journey at a very young age, becoming a veteran of the vibrant Northwest club scene. Having played both nightclubs and concert settings up and down the west coast for a number of years, he decided to open his own musical instrument dealership, in which he is still involved. Wanting to remain active in live music, Robert joined Off The Record in 2003.
